My name is Alexa Young

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu  is a combat sport and martial art that prioritizes grappling, particularly on the ground. It's based on the idea that someone who is smaller and weaker can defend themselves successfully against a bigger, stronger person by using leverage, technique, and taking the fight to the ground. Once on the ground, joint locks and chokeholds can be used to overcome the opponent. BJJ training serves multiple purposes: it's useful for sport grappling tournaments and self-defense scenarios, and sparring and live drilling play major parts in developing the practitioner. BJJ is regarded as a martial art, sport, a way of promoting physical fitness, building character, and a lifestyle. 

AMQ Jiu Jitsu  focuses on teaching Jiu Jitsu for self-defense purposes, enabling you to protect yourself or others who may be defenseless against an aggressive individual. Alternatively, you can apply the same skills in a competitive setting, such as grappling tournaments or MMA fights, to test yourself.
